Inspiration for Spring
The first day of spring is here and has brought, along with insufferable allergies, a feeling of a new beginning approaching. My winter was full of ups and downs (lots of downs) and I feel like I am finally beginning to catch my breath (sort of).
In Persian culture, our New Year, “Nowruz” falls right before the Spring equinox. I’ve never felt like January 1st was a fresh start; more of a soggy ending to an eventful and exhausting holiday season. Winter months represent quiet, dark, introspective time. A time to reflect and organize the events of summer and fall and to harvest all that was grown over the year. But Spring! Spring feels like a beginning.
I have felt pretty stuck in terms of personal style and inspiration. Taking care of the daily tasks of maintaining a family and raising a toddler has left little to no time for me to focus on myself and try and remember what I like and how I like to dress. Added to the fact that my postpartum body is still flucuating constantly (a topic for an upcoming newsletter!), getting dressed has fallen away from the previous delight it used to be and has become something I don’t really look forward to. So, that brings us to the topic of this newsletter: inspiration.
